Macondo

Gabriel García Márquez infuses every sentence of Cien Años de Soledad with deep emotion and passion. Through a masterful use of literary devices, he creates a world where reality and the extraordinary blend seamlessly, defining the genre of magical realism. In this universe, the impossible is normal: the dead interact with the living, Remedios La Bella ascends to the sky, an insomnia plague steals memories, and it rains for nearly five years. These surreal events give rise to a narrative rich in passion, often expressed through violence, eroticism, and incest.

In this world, time feels circular and characters echo one another. The color yellow recurs throughout—yellow butterflies, flowers, golden fish, and trains—all serving as vivid motifs. These details inspired my collection, where yellow takes center stage, and prints reflect these striking visuals. The garments appear conservative at first glance, yet the sheer fabrics reveal a sensuality that defies expectations. Repeated motifs symbolize the novel's themes, making this collection my personal interpretation of Cien Años de Soledad.
